What to do with the jewelry you no longer wear?

As you may know, Gleim the Jeweler has been in the business of buying and selling estate jewelry for many decades. It has always provided us with a way to acquire interesting and unusual items of jewelry, as well as providing our clients with a way to find new homes for pieces they no longer wear. If, like many of our clients, you have inherited jewelry which you will never wear, bring it in to any of our stores. We will sit down with you, review various options, such as consignment, trade, or outright sale, make suggestions relating to remodeling or restyling jewelry where appropriate, and give you the information you need to make the best decision. There are usually more elements to that decision than just how much you might receive for your jewelry, and we can help you evaluate them. Estate jewelry has become big business these days, and you see many kinds of companies offering to buy. Why not work with a locally- owned company in which one of us can sit down with you and spend the time needed to ensure you are comfortable in your decision?

  • June Birthstone - Pearl
    Pearls

Pearl, that beautiful, historic gem, is June's birthstone. Long treasured by royalty, pearls are also a wardrobe basic, often serving as a girl's first "real" piece of jewelry. Pearls are also wonderful for those grown-up girls who can appreciate some of the multitude of colors we see in South Sea pearls. Pictured here you see a collection of both South Sea and Japanese cultured pearls, any one of which can be worn on a daily basis. Come in to any of our stores to learn about pearls and appreciate their beauty!

    Chocolate, Anyone?
    Chocolate Pearls

What's the newest color in South Sea pearls? Chocolate! It is a beautiful, rich bronzy color which will compliment a wide variety of fashions. Although the process for obtaining this color is proprietary, it generally involves treatment of Tahitian pearls. It is a permanent color change, and results in some lovely necklaces. In addition to the chocolate strands, we have white and multicolored South Sea necklaces in stock right now. Stop by to take a look! South Sea pearls are extremely versatile, easily transitioning from the office to an evening out.

    Los Altos Village Farmer's Market
    Farmer's Market Post Card

Los Altos Village has launched the Thursday evening Farmer's Market, offering a wide array of fresh locally- produced flowers, fruits and vegetables. It has become a Los Altos tradition.

And here's another reason to stop by every Thursday... our Los Altos store is joining in the fun not only by remaining open for business until 7 each Thursday, but also by hosting live music in front of our store. What better way to enjoy the village atmosphere by creating your own tradition?

Buy some fresh produce, enjoy some music, and stop for dinner at one of our neighboring restaurants.

Diamond earstuds from the Gleim Collection

What's a jewelry wardrobe basic? Diamond earstuds. These are always appropriate for any occasion, any outfit, or any age. A petite pair makes a wonderful gift to mark a coming of age, whether 13 or 16. Larger earstuds for an 18th or 21st birthday will provide a lifelong memory, and perhaps a pair of earrings to pass down to future generations.

Often, women will "trade up" their diamond earrings over the years, getting successively larger pairs as their careers and lifestyles change. Sentimental about that first pair? Keep them to set on either side of a birthstone for a daughter or granddaughter, while getting a larger pair of earstuds for yourself. We can help you determine which is the best size and quality for your lifestyle.

Pictured here is a pair from our Gleim Collection, in 3- prong platinum settings designed to show off the diamonds to the maximum advantage.

Come in to see our extensive selection at any one of our three stores.

Pictured here, you see logos of two well-known organizations: Gamble Garden Center, and Castilleja School. Many of our clients may not realize that we can produce lapel pins, charms, or any other kind of jewelry incorporating the logo of your own organization. These two examples happen to be in 14K gold, but they can be made of sterling silver or gold overlay as well. We can even make these using enamel accents. Here are some of the organizations for whom we have made such recognition items: Palo Alto Centennial, Trees for El Camino, the Cyberays, Avenidas, and Peninsula Volunteers.
