Diamond Rings

DIAMONDS!

They're a girl's best friend and the birth stone for the month of April.  They are also one of our favorite things, of course!

The word "diamond" originated from the Greek word "adamas," meaning "unconquerable." They are
said to protect against poison, evil spirits, and water snakes.  So hard and strong that of all things on earth, only a diamond can scratch another diamond.

In 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria presented a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy, beginning the tradition of presenting a diamond ring as an expression of engagement.

And lucky, lucky April Birthday Girl, tradition holds that diamonds are your month's gems!

JEWELRY APPRAISAL

The independent, non-profit American Gem Society recommends you get your fine jewelry appraised once every three to six years:

• To provide accurate insurance protection (a receipt won't do.)

• For estate tax evaluation.

• To accurately estimate your jewelry value in a volatile market.

• As one of the steps to preparing a will or trust.

• So that if you sell or gift your jewelry, you'll know its monetary value.

• And to be sure an item is not in need of repair or maintenance.
